Wine made from grapes harvested in Nagano, protected by the geographical indication "Nagano". Many vineyards sit above 500 m in a cool highland climate with many sunny days and well-drained alluvial fans, and areas such as Kikyogahara in Shiojiri have grown grapes since the Meiji era.
