Saijo Sake Brewery Street
34 Hiroshima
The Saijo sake brewery group, a historic site, is a set of sake-brewing facilities in the Saijo Sakagura-dori district in front of JR Saijo Station that began in the early modern period, developed in the modern era, and continues today. The district flourished as a post town on the old Saigoku Kaido in the Edo period, and its breweries expanded from the late Meiji to the Taisho period. It was the first time in Japan that sake breweries were designated a historic site.
