History and origin
Shinpukusaikan, whose main shop is east of Kyoto Station, is said to have been founded in 1938 and to have begun operating as a shop in 1945, and is considered one of the oldest Kyoto ramen shops. The street stall that founder Xu Yongdi started with his wife is regarded as a pioneer of Kyoto ramen, and through noren-wake (letting staff open shops under the same name) there are a dozen or so shops of the same name nationwide.
