Gojome Morning Market

A morning market held on the Shimotamachi-dori shopping street in Gojome. It is said to originate from a market opened in 1495 by order of the local steward, and still recalls those times. Both sides of the street fill with spring mountain vegetables, autumn chestnuts and mushrooms, daikon and napa cabbage for winter pickling, char and yamame trout from mountain streams, and household goods such as knives, tubs and baskets.
