Former Okada Residence and Sake Brewery
28 Hyogo
An Itami sake brewer's house made up of a shop built in 1674, a brewery from around 1715, and a boiler room and washing area from the late Edo period. Its builder is thought to be the early-Edo brewer Matsuya Yohei; ownership passed to Kashimaya Seiemon in 1729 and later to the Okada family, and sake was brewed there as the north brewery of Ote-zuka Shuzo until 1984. It is the oldest townhouse in Itami and one of the few surviving 17th-century townhouses in Japan.
