Gaiaflow Shizuoka Distillery

A whisky distillery amid the rich nature of Okushizu, the mountain hinterland of Shizuoka, where underground water from the Southern Alps later becomes the Abe River. Its buildings make generous use of Shizuoka-grown cedar and cypress, and it aims at whisky rooted in the local land. Its washbacks of Shizuoka City cedar and a pot still heated by local firewood are distinctive, and its warehouse holds rows of whisky casks.
