Shoda Shoyu Shoda Memorial Hall

10 Gunma

A building put up in 1853 by Shoda Bun'emon II as the family home and shop. In 1873 Bun'emon III turned the family's Edo-period rice business, Yonebun, into soy sauce brewing, and the building was the head office until 1986. A registered tangible cultural property, it displays items from the Edo to Showa eras, such as a 300-year Shoda family tree, brewing tools from the founding years, and early-Showa posters.
