Saburomaru Distillery

A distillery of Wakatsuru Shuzo, a Tonami sake brewery founded in 1862, which began making whisky in 1952 and has brewed sake in winter and distilled whisky in summer. A fire from the still room in 1953 destroyed the factory, but with local people's help it was rebuilt in under half a year. Renovation funds were raised by crowdfunding in 2016, the distillery reopened in 2017, and in 2025 it became a registered tangible cultural property.
