Hakodate Morning Market
01 Hokkaido
A morning market that began after the war, when farmers from around Hakodate sold vegetables at a corner of the station-front plaza. It grew into an open-air market where producers and shoppers traded directly and moved to its present site in 1956. Crab, salmon and other seafood sit alongside farm-direct produce, and eateries serve dishes such as seafood rice bowls.
