Amaharashi

16 Toyama

A roadside station facing the Amaharashi Coast in Takaoka, Toyama, a shore of white sand and green pines praised in the Man'yoshu anthology. It looks across Toyama Bay to the 3,000-meter peaks of the Tateyama Range. Yoshitsune Rock in front, where Minamoto no Yoshitsune is said to have waited for a sudden shower to clear, gave Amaharashi its name, and with Meiwa Rock it is a national place of scenic beauty among the landscapes of The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
