Oguni Roadside Station
43 Kumamoto
A roadside station in Oguni, Kumamoto, built on the site of Higo-Oguni Station on the former JNR Miyanoharu Line. Designed by Kumamoto-born architect Shoei Yoh, it was the first building in Japan constructed with a large-scale wooden space-truss method, and its frame, which uses no steel, is made of thinned Oguni cedar. In 1993 it became the first roadside station designated in Kumamoto Prefecture.
