Suehiro Shuzo Kaei Brewery

A sake brewery in Aizuwakamatsu founded in 1850. Its original brewery burned down in the Boshin War, and the new brewery built in 1892 is now its oldest surviving building. In 1917 Kagi Kin'ichiro carried out comparison trials of yamahai, sokujo, and kimoto yeast starters there, and he kept coming to advise until 1920. The Kaei brewery became a registered tangible cultural property in 2018.
