Breweries
Gozenshu Tsuji Honten, Katsuyama
33 Okayama
A sake brewery founded in Katsuyama in 1804, whose brand name comes from Gozenshu, the title of the sake it presented to the Miura domain. It brews in its founding-era storehouses with underground water of the Asahi River beside it, and since 2007 the first female toji in Okayama Prefecture has led the brewing. Katsuyama, once a post town on the old Izumo road, became the prefecture's first townscape preservation area in 1985, and plant-dyed noren hang on its houses.
