Yuasa Soy Sauce Brewing Townscape
30 Wakayama
An area of 6.3 hectares selected in 2006 as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, in the category of brewing town. Developed around the late 16th century, the townscape grew up around commerce and industry such as soy sauce brewing; it keeps its Edo-period lot lines and is made up of heavy tile-roofed, thick-plastered townhouses and earthen storehouses used for brewing.
